Croc snatches dog from edge of residential lake

A father and son have watched on in horror as a two-and-half-metre crocodile snatched a dog from the edge of Ferndale Lake in Port Douglas.

The dog was off-leash when it was taken.

Wildlife rangers are now working to capture the crocodile as police urge people to avoid the residential lake until the crocodile is caught.

It comes after a three-metre crocodile was removed from Kewarra Beach, after a number of recent sightings and ongoing safety concerns.
