Workmates wrangle saltwater crocodile on Queensland road

A young saltwater crocodile believed to have been kept as somebody’s pet is in good hands after being rescued by two workmates driving home on the Gold Coast.

The duo stumbled across the saltie on the road at about 2am.

Channelling their inner Steve Irwin, they pulled over and wrangled the runaway.

One took it home and put it in the bath – leading to a surprise encounter for his housemate.

The reptile is lucky not to have been hit by a tram or car.

Experts say there is no way the crocodile made it so far on its own and they suspect it was somebody’s pet.

Another crocodile was found on the same Southport street in 2012.

Authorities are concerned both animals might have been kept in captivity.

The new escapee, named Boris by its rescuers, is in good health and will be transferred to another wildlife park.
