Coronavirus fragments have been found in wastewater in a Melbourne suburb, prompting a warning to residents.

Victoria Health tweeted that the fragments had been discovered in Ringwood.

Anybody who has lived in or visited the suburbs of Bayswater, Bayswater North, Boronia, Croydon, Croydon North, Croydon South, Heathmont, Kilsyth, Kilsyth South, Montrose, Ringwood, Ringwood East, Sassafras, Tremont, and Wantirna, from April 6-9, is urged to monitor themselves.

If they detect any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild, they are asked to get tested, and self-isolate until they have their result.

Victoria reported no new cases of coronavirus overnight.
