Elective surgeries return to WA as more COVID-19 restrictions ease
Bookings for elective surgeries in Western Australia will be made from tomorrow as the state winds back almost all of its COVID-19 restrictions.
Private hospital surgeries for category two and three operations will resume tomorrow, but those who have been on the public waiting list will get a new surgery date on the following Monday, May 9.
Non-urgent category two and three surgeries include patients needing surgeries such as joint replacements and ear and throat operations.

WA paused these surgeries for a month after the state experienced a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Today 5551 people in WA tested positive to the disease, the vast majority of whom are in metropolitan Perth.
Of those, 2235 were confirmed via PCR test and 3316 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.
WA has recorded 392,423 cases since the coronavirus pandemic began.
