Knife and cash found in car of Victorian man allegedly illegally trying cross NSW border
A Victorian man allegedly trying to enter NSW illegally has been charged after police found a knife, cash and drug paraphernalia in his car.
The 36-year-old was pulled over at a checkpoint on Wondonga Place in South Albury on the border about 6pm yesterday.
He produced a permit but was unable to provide any documentation or evidence relating to the essential work he would be conducting in the state, NSW Police said.

When he was questioned further, he allegedly became aggressive and refused to cooperate. He is then accused of winding up his window and trying to drive off.
Officers stopped his car, but he refused to get out or cooperate with police. He eventually opened his door and was arrested, police said.
His car was searched, and police found "a knife, $1600 cash and a bag containing items consistent with the supply of illicit drugs."
He was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with not complying with noticed direction – COVID 19, goods in custody and having custody of a knife in a public place.
The Rutherglen man was granted strict conditional bail and returned to Victoria. He is due to appear at Albury Local Court on September 21.
