Victoria Opposition leader issues incorrect statement about ending Melbourne lockdown

Victoria's opposition leader has clarified an error made in a statement the Liberals released today, in which they called for an immediate end to Melbourne's lockdown.

Matthew Guy has confirmed his party actually want an immediate end to Melbourne's curfew - not lockdown as a whole, as was indicated in the document.

While speaking outside Parliament this morning, Mr Guy was made aware of a mistake in the wording of the press release issued this morning.

"Sorry, we're talking about the curfews," he said.

"I apologise if that's incorrect."

"It should certainly be the curfews should end immediately, and that's what we're calling for today."

"It should say the word curfew."

Mr Guy fronted the media this morning to push for the government to announce the state's roadmap out of lockdown immediately, instead of Sunday as is planned.

He also called for the government to get Year 11 and 12 students backs into classrooms at the start of Term Four, for small outdoor family gatherings to be permitted from Sunday and for the release of health advice on which every lockdown restriction is based.

The Liberals' push comes as Victorians spend their 227th day in lockdown.
