Local sports are on their way back in South Australia as the slow process of recovery from COVID-19 continues.

Adelaide's Goodwood Saints Football Club will restart training on Tuesday, though players will train in separate squads, with 15-minute changeovers between.

Restrictions on amateur and children's sports in the state are expected to be loosened following Friday's National Cabinet meeting.

All sporting bodies will need to submit a "road to return" plan, which will have to be approved by SA Health, the Department of Sport, and the police commissioner.

The Adelaide Football League hopes to be back by mid-June for a nine-week season.

Football Federation SA is planning to get teams back training on Monday, with women's and junior games beginning in June, followed by senior men's games in July.

Basketball SA faces a more challenging road back, given most games are played indoors.
