Lockdown for Hunter and Newcastle region extended another week
The lockdown for the Hunter region of New South Wales will be extended another week amid new cases overnight.
The Newcastle, Cessnock, Dungog, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Port Stephens and Singleton local government areas were due to come out of lockdown tomorrow morning.
"Rather than coming out of lockdown tomorrow, that will be extended another week given the additional number of cases and I think given what the area is experiencing the community would understand why that is the case," NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said this morning.

The state has recorded another 345 cases of COVID-19 and two related deaths, both men aged in their 90s.
Five cases were recorded in the Dubbo region and another in western NSwestern NS, both of which are currently in lockdown.
Zero cases were recorded in Armidale, Tamworth and the Northern Rivers.
Armidale is due to come out of lockdown on Sunday; Tamworth and the Northern Rivers on Tuesday.
