One new local coronavirus case in Queensland, one under investigation

Queensland has recorded just one local case of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, on the state's first full day out of lockdown.

There were more than 14,000 tests conducted and 7,828 vaccines administered.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the new local case was linked to the Portuguese restaurant cluster and there is one other case currently under investigation.

Ms Palaszczuk the latest numbers are "good news".

"So the one locally acquired case is linked to the Greek community Centre and Portuguese restaurant, so that is good news," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"I want to let Queenslanders know as well, that we have one other case under investigation but we will be getting further details about that, and if there are any concerns there we will let everyone know this afternoon."

QLD Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young said the case under investigation is a close contact of a previous infection linked to the Greek Community Centre.

"There is another person of interest that I am doing further testing on, another close contact from the Greek community centre. So just working through whether or not that is a case," Dr Young said.

"Ultimately, this is good."

Dr Young said a potential case mentioned yesterday turned out to be a false-positive.

"If you remember, I mentioned the worker at the domestic terminal of Brisbane Airport who tested positive on a surveillance test," she said.

"We have gone and done repeat testing, multiple repeat testing on different platforms and it has confirmed that that was a false positive. So that person was not a case."

Brisbane and Moreton Bay were freed from lockdown at 6pm even though five new local cases were recorded yesterday.

Despite lockdown ending, a number of restrictions remain.

South-east Queensland, Townsville and Palm Island local government areas still have to wear masks when outside and in most public places where social distancing can't be maintained. 

"I know that it is a big ask for people in those south-east LGA's and Townsville to continue wearing their masks and checking in," Ms Palaszczuk said.

"But we do need all stick together for the next 12 days. We still have a long way to go."

Up to 30 people are allowed in homes and public spaces. Up to 100 are allowed at weddings and funerals. 

Indoor and outdoor seated events will also be able to accommodate 100 percent capacity, including today's Brisbane Broncos game and Wednesday's Wallabies games at Suncorp Stadium.
