Travellers in quarantine after plane delay could leave isolation today

Travellers who were forced into hotel quarantine in Queensland after a delayed flight from Perth could go home today.

One hundred passengers were forced into 14 days of hotel quarantine after a six-hour flight delay meant they arrived in Brisbane as Perth went into a snap three-day lockdown.

While passengers were up in the air, Queensland's health advice was updated to say anyone coming in from Perth or Peel from midnight on Friday night had to enter quarantine.

In order to leave hotel quarantine, the passengers will have to return a negative COVID test and prove they haven't been to any of the exposed venues in Perth.

It is understood an exemption was granted so the passengers didn't have to pay for the unexpected hotel stays.

WA's snap lockdown has ended as planned after no further community cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed.

However, there are some interim restrictions in place.

This includes the use of masks in public, no spectators at community sport and training, and limits on gatherings in all venues.
