Bondi man charged after alleged trips to south-west Sydney during lockdown

A Bondi man has been charged after allegedly repeatedly travelling throughout Sydney, NSW Police have said.

NSW Police Deputy Commissioner Gary Worboys said the Bondi man travelled to south-west Sydney at least four times.

He was arrested by police and charged.

"Here is a person that on four occasions blatantly disregarded the public health order," Deputy Commissioner Worboys said.

"It is not just about the person themselves, it is about their family, their community, about people who openly go outside of the orders and put everyone at risk."

NSW Police issued 671 COVID-19 infringement notices in the past 24 hours to residents breaching public health orders.

Of those, 393 were issued to people who were out of their home without a reasonable excuse.

NSW recorded a record 681 new cases in the past 24 hours as the Delta outbreak continues to wreak havoc.

The statewide lockdown has been extended to at least August 28, with Premier Gladys Berejiklian saying she would provide "clarity" on any further extensions soon.

Outside of Sydney, cases were today reported in Bathurst, Wilcannia, Brewarrina, Dubbo and Mudgee.
