NSW students to return to regular classes next week

Students across New South Wales will be back in school as of next week.

Regular lessons will go ahead as of Monday May 25, with all students expected to return to the classroom in a full-time capacity.

The NSW Government has made the decision based on the success of part-time classes and is confident that safeguards will remain in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 between returning students.

A mass delivery of 550,000 health and safety items was dispatched to NSW schools, ahead of the  staggered start of face-to-face teaching last week, in a bid to minimise any chances of coronavirus outbreaks.

The military-sized consignment included more than 40,000 bottles of hand sanitiser, 20,000 bars of soap and 20,000 toilet rolls.

Temperature checking hand guns are also being used.

While students returning to regular classes fulltime will mean parents can return to work, restrictions on public transport could cause issues with students making up a large number of those travelling on NSW buses and trains.

"When it comes to school children, we recommend, if you can, walking the children to school or dropping them off to avoid the public transport system," NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said today.
