Finance Minister Mathias Cormann remains "quite optimistic" about the economic outlook heading into Thursday's crucial employment figures, after the jobless rate previously hit 6.3 per cent.

He pointed to the latest ANZ job advertisements data which showed demand for workers almost nine per cent higher than this time last year.

"We are quite optimistic about the economic outlook moving forward," Senator Cormann told ABC television on Monday, adding that Reserve Bank governor Glenn Stevens recently said the unemployment rate is forecast to be lower than the earlier anticipated 6.5 per cent rate.
