An off-duty police officer who allegedly secretly filmed people in the bathroom of a NSW home will front a Sydney court in February.

Jonathon Neville Bensley's hidden camera was allegedly found in the bathroom of a home at Inverell, in northern NSW, by the owner in November last year, after Bensley had been visiting.

A laptop computer was seized from the constable's home during a search in September.

Bensley, who works in the North West Metropolitan Region, didn't enter a plea when his matter was briefly heard before Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday.

He's not required to appear when his matter is mentioned in the same court on February 12.

Bensley is facing several charges including filming a person in a private act without consent.
