Authorities said a man fitting Austin’s description was spotted riding a mountain bike along Main Yarra Trail in Willow Grove about 6am today, wearing shorts and a jumper,

Earlier today, police said Austin has "an interest" in Mildura and may be headed there.

Police have released an image of Austin, who has an intellectual disability, and have warned members of the public not to approach him.

"He's high risk, possibly violent, that's why I've asked the public, don't go near him, just notify police through triple-zero," Supt De Santo said.

Austin is described as being 166cm tall, with a medium build and short dark hair.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
