Serial drug driver avoids jail after repeat offences

A serial drug driver has avoided jail despite continually getting behind the wheel while under the influence.

Victoria Parr pleaded guilty today after being caught driving while high on drugs.  

A repeat offender, Parr's licence was suspended for just six months.

The Ipswich mother-of-two has been caught driving with drugs in her system four times in the past two years and has already lost her licence on at least six separate occasions.

The surprise verdict comes as the victim of another drug driver fights to keep him behind bars.

Laurie Tritton lost his wife and daughter when they were hit head on by a driver high on the drug ice on Christmas day 2017.

"Once okay, twice yeah, after that they should never hold a licence and never be able to drive again," he told 9News.

The man who killed his wife and daughter, Mark Veneris, now plans to appeal his seven year sentence after pleading guilty to the crash in Brisbane's east.

The 48-year-old had been smoking an ice pipe, which was still warm when emergency services attended the crash scene.
