Fears a popular brand of breast implant could be contaminated with dangerous particles has prompted Australian distributors to voluntarily withdraw the product from the market.

The withdrawal comes shortly after European health regulator’s decision to suspend the use of Silimed implants.

While doctors have been told to postpone surgery and notify former patients, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) says the issue does not pose a threat and that no adverse effects have been reported.
