Sydney Metro Chief Executive Peter Regan said the team's "hearts go out to the family, workmates and friends" of the man.

"Everyone deserves to go home safely from our construction sites," Regan said.

"We have, and will continue to offer our full support to SafeWork, our contractor Built, and personnel on site who have all been deeply affected by this incident."
