Accused Sydney killer says he fears for his family

Tony Halloun has always denied he's a killer.

But police allege that is a lie, and one of many he told after he bashed a 65-year-old woman to death in her Henley mansion in Sydney’s northern suburbs.

“I’m not a murderer, I’m not a killer,” he said.

“I’m a big guy, I’m a big guy, but I’ve got a heart of gold.

The Qidwai family bowed their heads as the court heard more than a year after mum Shahnaz was ripped from their lives.

Halloun gave a new version of events which involved three men named Moey, Omar and Gus.

The jury watched as a sobbing Halloun told officers the three men armed with guns grabbed Mrs Qidwai and made him help drag her to another room by the hair.

He said they made it clear they were not there for him, and let him go.

When asked why he did not make an anonymous call he said "at the time it would have been a smart thing to do."

He said he kept quiet because they threatened his wife and kids.

He said his family was still in danger.

Police allege Halloun is the killer, and he did it because he was desperate for money.
