No IS Facebook hack: ACT Police

Reports a Canberra teenager was contacted by an Islamic State recruiter on Facebook are false, ACT police say.

The 13-year-old's mother wrote on a Canberra Mums page that her son's account had either been hacked or he'd mistakenly accepted a friend request from someone recruiting for IS.

But after reviewing the claim, police said in a statement on Friday it was "SPAM or innocuous and there is nothing within the request to suggest any connection to any terrorist or militant organisation".
