One dead, one seriously injured in collision between truck and car at Lancefield

A man has been killed and a truck driver has been seriously injured following a collision between a truck and a car at Lancefield, north of Melbourne.

Paramedics were called to the crash on Lancefield-Tooborac Road, about 5km north of Lancefield, at 11.51am with reports two people were involved.

Police believe a Toyota Landcruiser travelling north collided with a prime mover and trailer which was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Landcruiser was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

The truck driver was trapped in the cabin by their legs, paramedics said. He was later freed and taken to hospital in a serious condition.
