Collier leaves NSW shadow ministry

Sydney MP Barry Collier has left the NSW shadow cabinet.

He stepped down from his dual portfolios as shadow minister for water and sport and recreation on Thursday night.

Labor opposition leader John Robertson said Mr Collier wanted to focus on fighting for his seat of Miranda, in the city's south, at the 2015 state election.

He was elected Miranda MP in 2013 with a record swing after former Liberal sports minister Graham Annesley left politics mid-term.

But changes to the electorate boundary mean the battle for Miranda may be much closer at the next NSW election.

"Unlike the previous Liberal MP for Miranda Graham Annesley - who abandoned Miranda mid-term - I will always make representing the Shire my number one priority," Mr Collier said in a statement.

Peter Primrose takes over the shadow water portfolio while Guy Zangari takes on sport and recreation.
