Embattled Queensland MP Clive Palmer has released a new video claiming he is the victim of a “trial by media”.

Published on the Palmer United Party’s YouTube page on Sunday, the video features dramatic barbed wire graphics and loaded instructions to “release Australia’s political prisoner”.

“[The media] will stop at nothing to get him out of government,” an ominous voiceover in the 15-second video says.

The video proclaims to be authorised by Declan Sheridan of Brisbane’s “Committee of Free Speech”.

According to The Australian, Mr Sheridan owns and directs several cafes with Mr Palmer’s daughter, Emily.

The video has also been posted to Mr Palmer’s Twitter page with the accompanying description “everyone is entitled to a fair trial in Australia”.

Mr Palmer has been embroiled in the saga for his role in the collapse of his Queensland Nickel refinery in Yabulu.

The facility has been placed into liquidation to recover millions of outstanding debts to creditors, including entitlements to almost 800 employees who lost their jobs last month.

The company was unanimously voted to be liquidated at a creditors’ meeting in Townsville on April 22.
