Immigration Minister Peter Dutton could be forced to reintroduce his changes to citizenship laws if the Senate decides to strike off his bill.

On Wednesday, the Australian Greens will seek the backing of Labor and crossbenchers to take the bill off the Senate notice paper.

The bill would introduce a four-year waiting period for permanent residents, tougher English language requirements and an Australian values test.
