Chinese ‘Spider-Man’ scales building to save dangling two-year-old

A Chinese man has been branded a hero after he climbed up the side of an apartment block to rescue a toddler seen hanging from a window.

Shandong Province resident and neighbour Liang Lee was alerted to the boy’s situation after hearing his cries last week, International Business Times reports.

Upon arriving on the scene, Mr Lee found the child suspended from the window security grille, his head trapped between the bars.

Concerned the boy might fall, Mr Lee immediately began scaling the three floors to the boy’s position.

Video captured by bystanders shows the man climbing without the assistance of a safety harness, using window bars and grilles to climb up.

While Mr Lee helped the boy to safety, other residents contacted firefighters and held a quilt to catch them, in the event either should fall.

Mr Lee said it was a miracle the boy emerged from the affair without injury.

“The security bars left a trace on the boy’s neck,” Mr Lee said.

“If the boy turned (had) turned his head, he would (have fallen) from the gap of the bars.”

The boy’s parents are believed to have thanked Mr Lee “profusely” after returning home and learning of his heroic act.
