China encouraging capital flows:Hockey

Treasurer Joe Hockey says decisions made by the Chinese central bank to devalue the yuan are about encouraging greater capital flows.

"We need to remember that the yuan has appreciated significantly in recent times and that has had some significant impact on Chinese exports," Mr Hockey told parliament on Thursday.

The Chinese economy was going through a transition and authorities were trying to lift their consumer class, he said.
