Chilling footage shows sexual predator chasing victim through Melbourne's east

Chilling new surveillance footage shows a man stalking a woman through the streets of east Melbourne, after she initially managed to fight off the pervert and flee.

Police said the 24-year-old woman was walking along Station Street towards Box Hill train station about 5.30pm on Wednesday when she was approached by a man who grabbed her wrists and groped her chest.

The victim managed to pull away from her attacker and fled towards the train station.

New CCTV footage released today by Melbourne police shows the man watching the woman run away and then take off after her.

The footage also shows the man initially turning to flee after a car pulls up nearby, before resuming his pursuit.

“The woman had no idea she was being followed until she got on board a train,” a police spokesman said.

“She was shocked at the time, but became more fearful when she realised she had been followed.”

Police said the offender had been described as Asian with a tanned face and was about 175-180cm tall.

He wore glasses, grey shorts, a white polo top at the time of the attack and was carrying a black backpack.
