Children's Panadol pulled off shelves amid contamination fears

Three batches of children’s Panadol are being recalled, amid fears the medicine may be contaminated with fibres that could cause allergic reactions. 

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) issued the warning this afternoon, and said it, along with GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare Australia, are looking at three batches of the strawberry and orange flavoured 5-12 years Panadol, supplied in 200 mls bottles with expiry dates February 2018. 

The minerals and fibres potentially contained in the medication would only be small quantities and may not be visible in the product, but if consumed the TGA said there is a low risk of allergic reaction. 

The TGA is urging customers to check the label on the bottle of Panadol or the bottom of the packaging for the batch number.

The affected batch numbers are:

·       136418 (strawberry flavour)

·       136444 (strawberry flavour)

·       136443 (orange flavour)
