Children escape serious injury after teens lose control of car in Sydney

Two children have avoided serious injury after two unlicensed teenagers lost control of their family car in Sydney’s west.

9NEWS understands the pair of boys, aged between 14 and 15 years old, took their family’s car in Mt Druitt about 4pm.

The Toyota Tarago was driven through the streets, before the driver lost control on O’Brien Street.

The car mounted the footpath and ploughed into a vehicle in a driveway, before slamming into a grey Toyota Yaris parked outside another home.

A two-year-old and seven-year-old child were in the backseat of the Yaris after returning from a shopping trip with their mother.

Neither child was injured.

The teenagers then fled back to their home.

Their father has since provided a full statement to police. Investigations are ongoing.
