A 10-year-old girl was grabbed by a man and threatened with a knife as she stood at an intersection on the NSW Central Coast.

The man grabbed the girl and showed her a knife in his jacket, but the girl pushed the man's hand away and ran to a nearby friend's house.

The incident happened at the intersection of Leichhardt Street and Gascoigne Road at Gorokan about 8.30am (AEST) on Wednesday, police said.
