Mum watches son be struck down in hit-run

A mother has released shocking dashcam footage that captured the moment her son was hit by a car while riding his bike in Bendigo.

Returning from trick or treating, 11-year-old Blair Hinton was crossing the road at a roundabout in Kennington when he collided with a white Kia Rio.

Blair's mother, Amanda Franks, said it makes her blood boil that the driver fled the scene, leaving witnesses to check he was okay.

He's been left with a grazed hip, a badly bruised knee...and a stern warning from his mother.

"I just thank my lucky stars he's ok," Ms Franks said. 

"It could have been much, much worse.

"But, he was not wearing his helmet and he's been in big trouble for doing that."

Bendigo Police are now hunting the driver and said the young boy had been crossing safely.

"They've cut across the left bound lane. They've also cut off a car failing to give way to a four wheel drive that was already in the roundabout. They had to break to miss them," Leading Senior Constable Gary Boucher said.

Police say the roundabout is notorious for accidents and this acts as a reminder for people to take a second look.
