A childcare facility in Perth's northern suburbs is at the centre of a child abuse investigation after several families complained.

Children had come home from the GoodStart Early Learning Centre with severe scratches earlier this month, up to six families said.

Suspicion initially fell on another child, but last week, a worker was sacked amid claims she deliberately scratched the children.

GoodStart Childcare said the accused carer completed a working with children check and received regular, mandatory training on child safety.

"We are cooperating with a police investigation into the alleged actions," the company said in a statement.

"We are providing support to families and staff at the centre."

Several families whose children attended the centre told 9News they were happy with how the situation had been handled by staff.

It's understood none of the children required medical attention.
