Victoria's Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton laughs off resignation rumours
Victoria's Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton has laughed off rumours he had quit his post on the state's deadliest day of the coronavirus pandemic.
Rumours briefly swirled on Twitter this afternoon that Professor Sutton had resigned, but the premier's office quickly dismissed the speculation as untrue.

Prof. Sutton is on leave and it is understood he will return to work on Friday.
He later made light of the speculation on Twitter with a reference to Canadian rock band Nickelback.
Victoria announced 725 new cases of COVID-19 today and an additional 15 deaths.
Both tallies are the most in a single day for any Australian state since the pandemic began.
