Chickens set alight at skate park in horrific act of animal cruelty

The RSPCA is investigating a shocking act of animal cruelty, in which two chickens were set alight near an Adelaide skate park.

Inspectors were called to Collins Reserve at Kidman Park, after a member of the public made the grisly discovery yesterday afternoon.

One chicken had died while another was badly injured and distressed.

It too later died from its injuries.

"Clearly any incident in which an animal is deliberately, it appears, set alight is something we should all be concerned about," the RSPCA's Carolyn Jones said.

A third chicken was found wedged under a fence and is now being cared for at the RSPCA's Lonsdale shelter.

The organisation is seeking any information that will help identify the person or people responsible for the callous attack.

"It did occur close to a skate park, we had hoped maybe there might've been some CCTV footage available, but there wasn't, so we don't have any idea at this stage about who might be responsible," Ms Jones said.
