Man charged with murder after fatal Townsville stabbing

A Queensland man is due to face court over a stabbing rampage which left an elderly woman dead and two other people injured.

It's alleged the 32-year-old man fatally stabbed an 81-year-old woman and left a woman, 26, and a man, 28, with stab wounds during the incident in the Townsville suburb of Wulguru on Tuesday night.

He'll face the Townsville Magistrates Court tomorrow on a string of charges including murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Police were about to begin a media conference about the injured man and woman on Wednesday when a man interrupted to alert them to his dead neighbour.

Police found the body of the 81-year-old woman at a home on Wright Street shortly after.
