Charges laid over Sydney's latest shooting

A man has been charged after a 28-year-old was gunned down in a busy western Sydney street.

The victim was shot in the knee at Granville on Thursday and spent several days in hospital.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man at a home in Merrylands on Saturday night.

He was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence, hinder police and affray.

He's due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on April 23.

The shooting happened at about 4pm on the corner of Granville's Railway Parade and South Street.

Initial reports suggested two shots were fired from a passing car.

It's the latest in a long line of shootings in Sydney's west and southwest, with much of the violence gang-related.

Investigations are continuing.
