Teen charged over autistic boy 'bashed with metal pole'

A teenager has been charged after an autistic boy was allegedly bashed with a metal pole at his home in Melbourne's south-east.

The 15-year-old was arrested late yesterday after the attack at 12.30am, when the vicitim and another friend went outside the house in Cranbourne to confront the alleged attacker.

The accused, who is also 15 years old, faces several charges and will face children's court at a later date.

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition.

He has since undergone surgery and is now in a stable condition.
