CareFlight funded in Qld until 2019

Queensland aerial medivac and patient transport service CareFlight will continue to employ its own doctors with new state government funding.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says $56 million in funding over three years will keep the strain off the state's health system, which used to provide its own doctors for medivac operations.

She says CareFlight's contract to provide medical evacuation services has been extended until 2019.

The funding will particularly benefit people living in the bush "out west", she said.
