Carbon tax debate set to continue

Debate on the carbon tax will continue in parliament, with a vote repealing the tax expected within the next two days.

The Abbott government will have a better indication on Wednesday whether it will try to put the package of bills to an immediate vote.

It is determined that the repeal legislation should pass the Senate as quickly as possible, despite a number of amendments by key crossbench senators threatening further delays.

Debate on Tuesday ended without an outcome, with Palmer United Party senators Glenn Lazarus and Jacqui Lambie voicing their support for scrapping Labor's climate tax scheme.
