Car thieves take man's retirement dream

A Melbourne man is literally chasing his retirement dream, a Mustang car, after it was driven off by thieves.

The man's blue 2006 model Mustang, valued at more than $70,000, was bought as a retirement investment two years ago.

It went missing from the retiree's Narre Warren North home some time between last Friday and Monday - and was spotted at a BP service station in Dandenong around 1.15am on Wednesday.

"He's absolutely devastated by the loss," Victoria Police senior constable Kate Marjoram said.

"We are doing all we can to recover the car and get it back to him but we need the community's help.

"It's quite an eye-catching car, so we think that it's possible that someone might have seen it."

Four people were in the stolen car when it was last seen in Dandenong.
