Family lucky to be alive after car smashes through western Sydney house
A western Sydney family got the wake-up call of a lifetime when a BMW containing four young men slammed into their home.
Adele Elkhoury and her daughter Miray, 27, were asleep upstairs when the car smashed through their lounge room in Blacktown at 5am today.
Ms Elkhoury normally falls asleep watching television in that very room, but was encouraged to come upstairs for bed by her daughter.
The young men allegedly claimed they had been driving slowly, but police believe they were speeding.
Investigations are ongoing.
The Elkhoury home will need a structural makeover, while Miray’s parked car has also been written off after being smashed by the rubble.
However, the family is looking on the bright side."Thank God we’re still safe and alive," Adele Elkhoury said.
