Crash into Logan shops causes gas leak

Gas has been switched off in part of Logan after a car crashed into gas bottles and two businesses overnight.

Police and paramedics were called to the Waterford West shops just before 4am, and found the red sedan crashed into the back of a dentist's building.

Firefighters then worked to isolate a small gas leak, Queensland Police Service Senior Sergeant Andrew Tracey said. 

"Initial concerns were in relation to some gas bottles that were dislodged and we had a small gas leak that the fire brigade were able to isolate very quickly," Senior he said. 

"The area's been rendered safe, we're just waiting for Energex to turn off the power so that we can remove the vehicle."

The driver was taken to hospital with concussion.  

One witness told 9NEWS he heard the crash from four kilometres away. 

Police are investigating the crash.
