Heavy delays on Melbourne's Eastern Freeway after car fire

A car fire has halted traffic on Melbourne's Eastern Freeway. 

The car burst into flames on an in-bound lane, just beyond Blackburn Road. 

Images and videos posted to social media showed the car engulfed in flames.

Traffic is extremely heavy in the area. 

It is believed three cars were involved in a collision and all passengers and drivers have been accounted for.

A crowd of more than 90,000 is expected at the MCG tonight for the annual Dreamtime at the 'G match.
