Driver mystery after car smashes into Sydney home's front yard

An investigation is underway after an SUV crashed through a fence in Sydney's inner west this morning.

The driver of the SUV lost control of the car and it crashed into the front yard of a home on New Canterbury Road, Lewisham, at about 12.25am.

There was no damage to the gas main or the house.

Nobody was injured.

Police were told a man had been driving the car and fled from the scene.

A woman, who said she was a passenger in the SUV, is assisting police inquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.
