Gunmen on the run after Sydney pub held up overnight

Two armed men are on the run this morning after a pub was held up in Sydney's south-west overnight.

At about 1.02am, police were called to the Canterbury Hotel on the corner of Canterbury Road and Tincombe Street, Canterbury.

They were told that two men wearing dark clothes, face coverings, and gloves, had entered the hotel and threatened staff and patrons.

One of the men was armed with a shotgun, the other with a pistol.

The men stole an amount of cash and fled the hotel on foot, heading east.

A 38-year-old security guard suffered minor injuries during the robbery.

Police are investigating if the robbery is linked to an unidentified vehicle that was seen driving the wrong way down Tincombe Street before stopping in Minter Street shortly before the men entered the pub.
