A man has tried to fly out of Sydney International Airport after he allegedly sexually assaulted a girl "several times" at a Canberra nightclub.

It's alleged the Irish national sexually assaulted the girl at a Bunda Street nightclub, and in Bible Lane in Canberra City between July 15 and 16.

"The girl attended hospital after the incident and underwent a forensic medical examination," ACT Police said in a statement.
