Canberra man died from head injuries

A 71-year-old man found dead in a Canberra apartment died from serious head injuries, a post-mortem has found.

Police identified the man as Miodrog Gajic on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the man's Mansfield Place unit in Phillip in Canberra's south at around 2pm (AEDT) on New Year's Day.

Police believe the man, who lived alone, died some time in the mid-morning.

Homicide investigations are continuing.

Mr Gajic's death is the second suspected murder in a week in Canberra.

ACT Police are also investigating the death of Nicholas Sofer-Schreiber, 27, who was found by a friend at a home in Lyneham on December 28.
