International bomb experts are preparing to gather in Canberra to discuss the growing threat of improvised explosive devices.

Representatives from Interpol, Defence and the Australian Federal Police will host an inaugural three-day forum beginning on Wednesday at Parliament House.

The focus of the talks will be to increase communication and co-operation between law enforcement and the military as well as counter-IED and counter-terrorism leaders.
