Canadian killed in crash outside Australia Zoo

A Canadian man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash outside Australia Zoo, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland town of Beerwah.

Police believe his van was turning into the zoo on Steve Irwin Way when it collided with an oncoming ute about 10.25am. today.

The 57-year-old Canadian suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman in the van and the man driving the ute both suffered minor injuries and have been taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Steve Irwin Way has reopened to traffic, and the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
