Refugees in Nauru can expect a visit from Cambodian officials in the next few weeks sounding out those interested in resettling in the Asian nation.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton said the governments of Australia and Cambodia were pressing ahead with the agreement announced last year and set to be finalised in coming weeks.

Both sides this week reaffirmed their commitment to the deal under which Australia will provide an extra $40 million in foreign aid.

In turn, Cambodia will take refugees from Nauru, with Australia meeting all costs of resettlement.

Mr Dutton, who's been in Phnom Penh, says a delegation from Cambodia will travel to Nauru within weeks to speak to refugees living in the community there about settlement options.
